Gautam Gambhir received threats from an engineering student

A 21-year-old engineering student from Gujarat, Jigneshsinh Parmar, was arrested for sending death threats to Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir. The emails, sent on April 22, simply said, “I kill you,” raising serious concerns as they coincided with the tragic Pahalgam massacre in Jammu and Kashmir. Initially, there were fears of terrorist involvement, but investigations revealed it was the act of the student, whose family claims he has mental health issues. Delhi Police are continuing their investigation, and Gambhir remains under special security, as this isn’t the first time he has received such threats.

In a shocking incident, Team India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, received death threats via email on April 22, 2025. At first, authorities feared a terror group like ISIS might be involved. However, the truth turned out to be different. A 21-year-old engineering student from Gujarat, named Jigneshsinh Parmar, has been arrested by the Central District Police in connection with the threats.

Parmar sent two emails to Gautam Gambhir, both simply stating, “I kill you.” The emails were sent on the same day as the tragic Pahalgam massacre in Jammu and Kashmir, where around 26 people lost their lives. This raised even more concern about the seriousness of the threats.

Delhi Police revealed that the emails came from a suspicious location. After Parmar’s arrest, his family mentioned that he was struggling with mental health issues. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), M Harsha Vardhan, confirmed that investigations are still ongoing and that Gambhir remains under Delhi Police protection.

A formal complaint was filed at Rajinder Nagar Police Station. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Gambhir has received threats — a similar case happened back in 2022, which led to an increase in his security.

The case is still under investigation, and authorities are ensuring the safety of Gambhir and his family.
