The much-anticipated IPL 2025 El Clasico turned into a one-sided affair as Mumbai Indians crushed Chennai Super Kings by nine wickets in Match 38 at the Wankhede Stadium on April 20. CSK posted a competitive 176/5, with fifties from Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja, but it was nowhere near enough. Rohit Sharma’s classy unbeaten 76 and Suryakumar Yadav’s fiery 68* off just 30 balls led MI to a comfortable win in only 15.4 overs. After this crushing defeat, Srikkanth says CSK’s season is over, with their hopes of playoff qualification now hanging by a thread.

Former Indian cricketer and CSK supporter Kris Srikkanth didn’t hold back, declaring on social media that the season was “pretty much over” for CSK. With just two wins in eight games, CSK are stuck at the bottom of the table, while MI are gaining momentum with three back-to-back wins.

Srikkanth praised MI’s batting brilliance and called it “a treat” to watch Rohit and Surya in full flow. He advised CSK to just play freely in the remaining games and backed MI to lift the trophy this season, stating, “It’s MI’s Cup to lose.”

As MI look to continue their playoff push, they next face Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 23, while CSK will try to bounce back against the same side on April 25 in Chepauk.
