Speaking out after KKR’s latest setback, Kaif pointed out that the team’s obsession with maintaining a left-right batting combination is doing more harm than good.

The former batter also criticized the cautious batting during a crucial phase of the chase against GT, pointing at Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer’s slow partnership as a missed opportunity. He argued that big hitters should be sent in early during high-pressure chases, even if it comes with the risk of early wickets.
Another point of concern for Kaif was the exclusion of Quinton de Kock, who had recently performed well but was dropped to accommodate a right-handed batter. “Lefty-righty ke chakkar mein naiya dub gayi KKR ki,” Kaif remarked, suggesting the team’s over-dependence on combination tactics is sinking their chances.
