Rising cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, recently picked up by Rajasthan Royals during the IPL auction, has etched his name in history books by creating a new record in List-A cricket.
At just 13 years and 269 days old, Suryavanshi became the youngest Indian to play List-A cricket. The record was achieved during a Vijay Hazare Trophy Group E match, where he represented Bihar against Madhya Pradesh at the NexGen Cricket Ground in Hyderabad.
This remarkable feat broke the long-standing record held by Ali Akbar, who made his List-A debut for Vidarbha at the age of 14 years and 51 days during the 1999-2000 season.
In his debut match, Vaibhav managed to score 4 runs off 2 balls before being dismissed by Madhya Pradesh’s Aryan Pandey. Despite his early dismissal, his historic debut captured the attention of cricket enthusiasts across the country.
The match saw Madhya Pradesh overpower Bihar with a dominant performance. Bihar, batting first, was bundled out for 196 runs in 47 overs. Madhya Pradesh comfortably chased the target with 149 balls to spare, securing a six-wicket victory. Harsh Gawli (83) and Rajat Patidar (55) were the standout performers for Madhya Pradesh.

Speaking to PTI, Vaibhav expressed his excitement about playing under the guidance of cricket legend Rahul Dravid. “I’m thrilled to be a part of the IPL, but more than that, I’m ecstatic to play under Rahul Dravid sir. I don’t have any specific strategies for the IPL; I’ll just focus on playing my natural game,” said the young talent.
