Virender Sehwag’s Advice to Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Virender Sehwag, one of India’s most explosive batsmen, has offered a unique piece of advice to the young Vaibhav Suryavanshi following his promising start to the IPL 2025 season. After a nail-biting clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), where Rajasthan Royals (RR) fell short by 11 runs, Virender Sehwag praised Suryavanshi for his power-hitting skills but warned him about the challenges of maintaining focus and consistency in the long run.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, just 14 years old, has already captured the attention of cricket fans with his attacking style. In his debut IPL match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), he smashed a six off the very first ball he faced, later scoring 34 runs off 20 balls. He continued to impress against RCB, hitting two sixes off veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar before being dismissed.

However, Virender Sehwag, known for his aggressive approach, emphasized the importance of staying grounded despite early successes. During a conversation with Cricbuzz, Sehwag highlighted the pitfalls many young cricketers face after a few good performances. “When players get praise for their early performances and think they have become stars, they often lose their focus. It’s essential to stay grounded,” Sehwag stated.

Sehwag advised Vaibhav Suryavanshi to model his career after Virat Kohli, who started his IPL journey at the age of 19 and has continued to play for all 18 seasons. “Suryavanshi must aim to play for 20 years in the IPL, just like Kohli. It’s crucial to stay focused on long-term goals, rather than getting carried away by short-term achievements,” said Sehwag. He emphasized that staying fit and committed would allow Suryavanshi to break numerous records and make a lasting impact on the tournament.

With Suryavanshi’s early signs of brilliance, all eyes will be on how he handles the expectations and pressures that come with being in the IPL spotlight at such a young age. Sehwag’s advice could prove pivotal in shaping the young talent’s career in the coming years.
